25 On 25

25 years here in Indiana PA on 25th August 2020!  That's basically what it is this coming Tuesday morning.  It was the time when we reached Pittsburgh twenty-five years ago.  There were five and a-half people coming down the plane that morning: Me, Mak, MakTok, Amin, Wasil and yet-to-be-born Luqman.  David Harper, as well as an IUP student rep, were waiting at the arrival gate.  I went with Mr. Harper.

The first sight of the Fort Pitt Tunnel...

...and the city of Pittsburgh on the other side of it.

The McDonalds that we stopped by for breakfast was, ironically, the one beside the CCAC campus! I still remember how we had to physically separate the bacon from the egg on our McEgg...

David then took us up Mt Washington where we had a good view of the city.

It was a whole new experience for the family.  We spent a good long time just being there!

He then drove us in his Buick to Indiana PA to a house on S. Fifth ST where we were to be for the next few months.  I paid David $120.00, but he must have felt that the money was too much, for he'd return a few hours later with loads of groceries, including eggs, and frozen fish!  During the next few days, David would continue to help us with a couple of Walmart  and Comet store trips.  The landlord, Beverly, and David's friend Flossie, also came to the house that day with a box of crockery and cutlery, and ripe tomatoes from their garden!  It was a grand welcome for some very tired travelers...

note1: Happy 19th cakeday, young Muhsin!!

note2: That the 25th  August 1995 was also the Grand Launching of Windows 95 was not lost to us, but there was very little interest on my part...
